RE: Notice of Discrimination and AODA Violation
Dear [ Name of Manager or "Management Team" ],
This letter serves as formal notice of a discriminatory incident and a violation of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) that took place at your establishment on [ Date of Incident ].
As a Service Animal User, the law guarantees my right to access your premises with my Service Animal. During my visit, your staff member(s), [ Name or Description of Staff ], failed to comply with provincial accessibility laws by [ briefly describe: e.g., denying me entry / demanding an invalid training certificate / refusing to accept my medical letter ].
The AODA (O. Reg. 165/16) and the Ontario Human Rights Code supersede any internal business policies regarding animals. Failure to accommodate a person with a disability and their Service Animal exposes your business to significant legal liability, including potential human rights complaints and provincial fines.
I have attached a copy of the Carry-On Service Animal Access Notice outlining the specific legal statutes your establishment has breached.
My goal is not to pursue immediate litigation, but to ensure that your establishment is accessible to all. I request that you:
- Conduct immediate AODA retraining for all front-line staff and security personnel.
- Provide a written response to this letter by [ Date - usually 14 days ] detailing the corrective actions taken.
If this matter is not addressed, I will be forced to escalate this issue to the appropriate provincial regulatory bodies.
Sincerely,
[ Your Signature ]
